Golkar: Danantara Must Be Independent to Drive Indonesia's Economic Growth
Jakarta – Members of the Commission VI of the House of Representatives from the Golkar Party, Sarmuji, have emphasized that the Investment Management Agency (BPI) known as Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) has significant potential to be a catalyst for Indonesia's economic growth. However, he insists that the management of Danantara must be independent, transparent, accountable, and free from political interference.
"It is crucial that the management of Danantara remains independent, without any outside influence, and is conducted in a professional manner to meet expectations," Sarmuji stated on February 24, 2025. He stressed that the House of Representatives will monitor the management of Danantara to ensure it aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's vision. Sarmuji also encouraged the public to actively participate in ensuring the transparency of this institution.
"Danantara aims to support investments in strategic sectors and attract foreign capital. Therefore, we must grant our trust while making sure that oversight is optimized," he added.
Sarmuji expressed confidence in the professionalism of the individuals appointed to lead Danantara: "If we look at figures like Pak Rosan, Pak Doni, and Pak Pandu, they are capable and experienced in their fields," he noted.
Danantara was officially launched by President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace in Jakarta on February 24, 2025. The leadership structure of Danantara includes Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rosan Roeslani, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Pandu Patria Sjahrir, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dony Oskaria, Head of the Supervisory Board Erick Thohir, and Deputy Head of the Supervisory Board Muliaman D Hadad.
Furthermore, former Indonesian presidents will be invited as advisors to ensure Danantara is managed with high integrity.
In his speech, President Prabowo underscored that Danantara is not merely an investment fund but a tool for reshaping the management of national wealth for the welfare of the people.
"Danantara must be managed very carefully, transparently, and be auditable at any time. This is a legacy for our children and grandchildren," Prabowo reiterated.
With total managed assets exceeding US$ 900 billion, Danantara is set to become one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world.
