Palantir Strengthens Army Partnership with New $618.9 Million Contract

Published December 19, 2024

Palantir Technologies Inc. has seen its shares rise in premarket trading on Thursday following the announcement of an extended partnership with the U.S. Army. This collaboration will further enhance the Army Vantage capability, which is a central component of the "Army Data Platform." This new contract is valued at $400.7 million spread over four years, with the total potential amount reaching up to $618.9 million.

The goal of this new agreement is to improve the use of data across the entire Department of the Army. It aims at enabling a deeper integration of data and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, which will be critical for the Army's operational needs.

The Vantage program, already operational, has supported over 100,000 users as of 2024, achieving record levels of usage. The platform currently connects more than 180 unique data sources, facilitating seamless interactions within the Army and the broader Joint community.

The expanded scope of the program will maintain its current capabilities while also adapting to support various Army initiatives. Enhanced interoperability and integration through advanced technological investments are key aspects of this development.

Akash Jain, President of Palantir USG, emphasized that the ongoing introduction of new AI capabilities not only supports the Army's current operational framework but also empowers the Army in developing new applications for more effective data analysis across crucial missions.

This partnership presents investors with potential opportunities to gain exposure to Palantir's stock through ETFs such as the Adaptiv Select ETF and the ProShares Big Data Refiners ETF.

Price Update: Following the announcement, shares of PLTR have shown a modest increase of 1.97%, reaching $72.92 in premarket trading.
